Ganesha is the Hindu deity known as “the remover of obstacles.” Although he is a Hindu deity, lord Ganesha transcends religion and is a symbol of hope for many people worldwide. It is commonly observed that after birth, Ganesha’s head was cut off by his father, Shiva. His mother, Parvati, became so sad that she threatened to destroy the world. Shiva replaced his son’s head with that of an elephant and brought him back to life. Many view this decapitation as a symbol of transformation- one that we ourselves must go through on our paths.
