Brief History of Baphomet
Baphomet is a deity, allegedly first worshipped by the Knights Templar during medieval times. Eventually, the figure became a symbol of balance in the occult: half human, half animal; male and female; good and evil. When the Templars were persecuted by the French monarchy, the concept of Baphomet became demonized.
Eliphas Levi, a French writer and occultist, drew the iconic “Sabbatic Goat” during the mid 1800s. The Satanic Temple uses this imagery in their practice. In modern times, many people use the symbol while protesting indoctrination, both religious and political. The figure ultimately represents duality and peace between all ideologies.
