Description
Tarot Neocolonial de las Américas. $23.95.
Tarot Neocolonial de las Américas explores the period when the New World and the Old World collided– a turning point in human civilization and the dawn of globalization. As a Puerto Rican artist, Patrick McGrath Muñíz felt compelled to address issues of social and economic struggles through his tarot art. The result is a stunning series of visual narratives depicting 500 years of American and European colonization and conquests of Latin America. There is much to learn from history. Lessons can be applied to our lives through the art and archetypes of tarot.
Includes 78-card deck and 92-page guidebook. Each card has a title at the bottom, with English, Spanish, Portuguese, and French translations.
Patrick McGrath Muñíz is an American painter who explores the relationship between traditional icons, especially religious, and the modern-day consumer society. He questions corporate propaganda and the current state of the global economy within his artwork.
What is tarot?
The tarot cards are playing cards mainly used for divination purposes. Invented in 1430s Italy, the tarot spread throughout France, Austria, and the rest of Europe. Practitioners use the cards to gain insight into the past, present, and future. They utilise their intuition to apply the meaning of the cards to particular situations. Although tarot is a structured form of cartomancy, many readers branch out and develop their own unique methods of reading.
